Almost there….

IMG_3636

IMG_3634Bugger, its a rainy day today so no show painters, pretty understandable really I guess.

Colour is looking fab, I’m really loving it.  Once the deck is finished and the brick wall is lightened it’ll all tie together nicely.

So got the architect plans back yesterday, arggghhhhh so frustrating, the extension is a good 3 metres longer than it should be, I mean don’t get me wrong I love massive open plan living spaces, but but but, I don’t want to lose my lovely garden too much as I harbour a not so secret desire to chuck a pool in one day.  Much to my husbands opposition, his favourite say ‘why do you need a pool when you have the largest pool (beach) 50metres away?’ he he he, such is life.

Anyway……so the extension was too long and he’d also changed the entire make up of the roof line which I’m sure increases the build costs by some ridiculous amount which freaks me out, so I’ll have to swallow my nerves and ring him to ‘discuss’ it all today. Geeze I’m such a pussycat when it comes to confrontations, but hubby reminds me that is exactly why we chose an architect who wasn’t a friend so I could do exactly this!

I love the layout, its all perfect, and once we reduce the extension, it will be perfect! Check it out! PS. we aren’t touching the second storey, which consists of a master bedroom suite….

House Plan

Ok, I’ll go and ring the architect now, be back soon to fill you in….

So … let’s be clear about this … the “largest pool” is only 50 meters away. However !! (clearing throat) … imagine this … it’s a beautiful sunny day in Kohi. The sky is that deep azure blue; there are a couple of faint white clouds in the sky. There is a smell of freshly mown grass in the air and a gentle zephyr of a breeze wisping through the house taking the edge off the heat.

The BBQ is sizzling gently as eye fillet steak browns and the beer tastes like nectar.

Meanwhile in a larger than small (but admittedly not the largest) pool barely meters from the BBQ, the kids are swimming safely under the watchful but relaxed eyes of doting Dad. The happy sound of childrens laughter reverberates through the air as the thought goes through your mind … “hey … a pool … glad I planned for that” 🙂

You have to leave room for the pool … !!
